Boston Dynamics has integrated Google's Gemini and Gemini Robotics-ER 1.6 into its Orbit software platform, specifically its AI Visual Inspection systems, which analyze images captured by the Spot robot. A key new capability is instrument reading — the model uses visual reasoning and code execution to interpret pressure gauges, sight glasses, and digital displays, zooming into images to identify needles and markings and calculate values with high precision. Instrument reading accuracy improved dramatically, rising from 23% in earlier models to as high as 93% with agentic vision enabled.
