A Reddit thread on r/ChatGPT discussing the deprecation of ChatGPT's legacy Deep Research feature, which OpenAI retired on March 26, 2026. The legacy mode — originally launched in February 2025 as a specialized o3-based model capable of autonomously browsing the web for 5–30 minutes and scanning hundreds of sources — was phased out. The removal was part of a broader simplification of the ChatGPT interface, with the current, improved version of Deep Research remaining fully available.
