I copy-pasted this cooking recipe and accidentally hit enter before adding the actual prompt. Normally this would result in ChatGPT interpreting the text, trying to guess what I need, and giving a wall-of-text response with the answer it thinks I want. This time, for the first time ever, it actually asked me what I want it to do. It's a known shortcoming of LLMs, where they give an answer no matter how nonsensical the prompt is. I always said that a big improvement they need is asking user for clarification when the prompt is unclear, instead of always trying to answer right away. Are we finally here? P.S. I don't have any instructions to "ask clarification questions" in the personalisation. P.P.S. Of course it does often ask me questions like "would you like to learn more?", but this is always at the end of a detailed reply. submitted by /u/PotatoesAndChill [link] [comments]
