A report from enterprise AI firm Writer and research firm Workplace Intelligence, based on a survey of 2,400 knowledge workers across the U.S., U.K., and Europe, found that 29% of employees admit to sabotaging their company's AI strategy — a figure that jumps to 44% among Gen Z workers. Sabotage tactics include entering proprietary information into public AI tools, outright refusing to use mandated AI tools, and intentionally generating low-quality work to make AI appear less effective. Ironically, the survey found that workers who resist AI adoption are actually more vulnerable to layoffs, with 60% of executives saying they are considering cutting employees who refuse to adopt AI.
