ChatGPT desktop app will not download images even after a complete reinstall I am on Windows 11 and the Download button in the ChatGPT desktop app does nothing when I try to download generated images. I already tried uninstalling ChatGPT normally through Windows Add or Remove Programs. After uninstalling, I manually checked and removed ChatGPT related files from these locations %LOCALAPPDATA% %APPDATA% %LOCALAPPDATA%Packages I also checked for and removed the OpenAI.ChatGPT folder. I then opened PowerShell as Administrator and ran these commands Get-AppxPackage ChatGPT | Select Name, PackageFullName and Get-AppxPackage ChatGPT | Remove-AppxPackage I also verified afterward with Get-AppxPackage ChatGPT and there was no ChatGPT package remaining. I restarted Windows and reinstalled ChatGPT, but the image downloading problem is still there. What is especially strange is that after reinstalling, ChatGPT was still logged into my account. That makes me wonder whether there are additional ChatGPT files, credentials, cached data, registry entries, or other Windows Store app data somewhere that I have not found. The web version of ChatGPT can download the images normally. The problem only happens in the Windows desktop app. Has anyone figured out where the ChatGPT desktop app stores all of its remaining data on Windows 11, or knows how to perform a genuinely complete clean uninstall including cached credentials and any hidden app data? At this point I suspect simply uninstalling the app is not actually removing everything.ChatGPT desktop app will not download images even after a complete reinstall. submitted by /u/archz2 [link] [comments]
