Nvidia has agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $13 billion, keeping the flagship open‑AI model hub operational under its ownership. The deal follows Hugging Face’s 2025 rejection of a prior Nvidia investment at a $7 billion valuation and aims to accelerate dissemination of publicly available “open‑weight” models that users can download, customize, and run on various hardware. According to CEO Jensen Huang, the acquisition will help scale AI across diverse applications by enabling businesses, universities, and institutions to build on advanced capabilities without incurring full training costs for proprietary systems.
