Perplexity has low tens of millions in revenue a month, and I’m not even talking about how much they lose. Nvidia had to step in to boost their valuation and give them first aid, either through cloud credits and/or money, to help them make it to the next round of funding. Nvidia doesn’t care about the economics of any of the AI startups they “invest in.” They need as many of them as possible to stay alive, generate demand, and keep the AI narrative alive. Sunday night scoop: Nvidia is in talks to lead a multibillion dollar funding round in Perplexity after previously considering a large license-and-hire deal akin to Poolside.
