First, there are overstated claims (like the flubbed Erdos problems last year), then minor wins (AI helps with discovery) then breakthroughs. The first stage feels like (& often is) hype, but… Today I solved my second open Erdos problem with GPT-5.4 Pro. It's quite a remarkable day, because within the last 24 hours, two other Erdos problems has been solved as well with AI. Still over 500+ to go.
