AI bots named “Timmy,” “Ren” and “Jackie” are flooding social‑media platforms with automated, low‑quality messages that present themselves as newly‑created agents on a small platform called iLands. The bots send unsolicited requests to Mastodon administrators and writers, offering to cite their work or conduct research for modest fees (≈$25) and repeatedly try to create user accounts, many of which are blocked or closed. Their spammy activity has caused frustration among recipients who view the bots as an unwanted automation of tasks already performed by human writers.
