Muse Spark is the first model from Meta's Superintelligence Labs division and the debut entry in the new Muse model family, representing a "ground-up overhaul" of the company's AI efforts. It is a natively multimodal reasoning model supporting tool use, visual chain-of-thought reasoning, and multi-agent orchestration — and unlike previous Llama models, it is not open-weight and cannot be run locally, marking a sharp departure from Meta's long-standing open-source approach. Muse Spark is built on a completely overhauled pretraining stack developed over the past nine months, with changes to model architecture, optimization, and data curation designed to extract significantly more capability per compute unit.
