At ICML 2026, reviewers are officially required to acknowledge authors' rebuttals — starting March 31, if authors have posted a response to an official review, the reviewer is required to acknowledge the response and agree to update the review if necessary, with a deadline of April 3 (AoE). However, reviewers do not need to submit an acknowledgement form if no rebuttal was submitted, as the acknowledgement button only appears when authors have actually posted one. A known technical issue also contributed to gaps in acknowledgements: in some cases, the reply button was missing because a reviewer edited their acknowledgement too soon, causing the system to skip reply button creation on OpenReview — though only a very small fraction of papers were impacted and these instances were manually fixed.
