fascinating comments on possible slowdown – but probably a red herring. - Anthropic and OpenAI presumably aren’t colluding to slowdown, they are asking governments to build a framework such that a slowdown might be mandatory at some point. - governments are free(ish) to regulate companies in many ways; no obvious reason they couldn’t do what was asked - separately antitrust was built for things like price fixing, not this per se, and government has fairly broad latitude about what to prosecute, and the law has many exceptions (eg sports teams) The funny thing about Anthropic and OpenAI people saying they want to slow down AI progress is that this is what Anti Trust mechanisms were built for. It's illegal to collude and slow down AI progress.
