GLM-5.1, developed by Z.ai (formerly Zhipu AI), is Z.ai's next-generation flagship model for agentic engineering, featuring "significantly stronger coding capabilities than its predecessor," better judgment on ambiguous problems, and the ability to break down complex problems, run experiments, and identify blockers with precision. Windsurf announced the availability of GLM-5.1 in its platform, following the earlier integration of GLM-5, which launched with limited-time promotional pricing and was included in Arena Mode's Frontier Arena and Hybrid Arena battle groups. GLM-5.1 sustains optimization over hundreds of rounds and thousands of tool calls through repeated reasoning and strategy revision, with performance improving the longer it runs.
