Google launched its "Google app for desktop" for Windows 10 and 11 users globally on April 14, 2026, bringing Google Search, Drive, files, and apps directly to the desktop via a keyboard shortcut (Alt + Space), similar to Mac's Spotlight but tailored for PC users. The app includes an AI Mode with Google Lens searches and the ability to share your screen for more personalized results in a floating window. Alongside this, the Gemini team is also working on a macOS application , marking a broader push by Google to expand its presence beyond the browser onto desktop operating systems.
