Google’s DeepMind just released new 4B and 27B MedGemma models!

Google DeepMind released MedGemma, a collection of medical vision-language foundation models based on Gemma 3 in 4B and 27B parameter sizes, demonstrating advanced medical understanding and reasoning on images and text that significantly exceeds similar-sized generative models while approaching task-specific model performance. MedGemma is available in a 4B multimodal version, a 27B text-only version, and a 27B multimodal version, with common use cases including medical image interpretation, medical text comprehension, and clinical reasoning. The models are intended as a starting point for efficient development of downstream healthcare applications involving medical text and images , and are available on Hugging Face and Google's Vertex AI platform.
