The NousResearch Hermes Agent open-source repository (github.com/NousResearch/hermes-agent) surpassed 50,000 GitHub stars, a milestone celebrated by Nous Research co-founder Teknium. Hermes Agent is described as a self-improving AI agent with a closed learning loop, featuring a multi-platform messaging gateway (Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal, Feishu/Lark, WeCom), six terminal backends, cron scheduling, MCP integration, and multi-instance profile support. Prior to hitting 50k stars, the repository had already been recognized as one of the third fastest-growing GitHub repos in a given week , reflecting rapid community adoption of the project built by Nous Research, an AI safety and capabilities research lab co-founded by Teknium alongside Jeffrey Quesnelle, Karan Malhotra, and Shivani Mitra.
