Nous Research's Hermes model line has been deliberately developed with a strong emphasis on creative capability. The training dataset for Hermes 4 expanded to 50x more data tokens than Hermes 3, with special care taken to highlight creative content. Nous Research stated that "special attention was given to making the models creative and interesting to interact with, unencumbered by censorship, and neutrally aligned while maintaining state of the art level math, coding, and reasoning performance for open weight models." Hermes 4 expands Nous Research's line of neutrally-aligned and steerable models, designed to adhere to the user's needs rather than a company's ethics code, with users experiencing an eagerness for roleplaying and creativity in the model.
