I understand the pushback on anthropomorphic language regarding the hugging face incident, and I can see that the general public has been humanizing AI long before ChatGPT (calling their Roomba “he” or “she”, saying please and thank you, talking to it as a companion, asking how it feels, etc.). But if my house was on fire, and I called the fire department and told them my house was “breathing smoke”, and they warned me not to use humanizing language, my damn house is still on fire and I need the fire put out. (Bad analogy but you get it. A fight against the language is not a fight against the key concept and takeaway.) Other than the anthropomorphic language, what other pushback do people have?
