I kept running into the same thing. Change a system prompt, get a different answer, and I couldn't tell if that was my change or just the sampler. The loop made it worse. Edit the Modelfile in another editor, ollama create, reload, start a new chat, and by then I'd lost track of what the last answer even looked like. I'd end up trying one prompt and giving up. So I built Remuda. The Modelfile editor sits beside the chat. I save, it rebuilds and reloads, and my next message uses the change. I use it as my normal chat client too. Saved chats, streaming with cancel, vision, folded reasoning, pull with per layer progress. The bit I use most is compare. One prompt, two configs, run on a fixed seed, so I'm reading the change and not temperature noise. It also keeps Modelfile history with diffs, per chat parameter overrides I can bake in once they earn it, and a tool playground that shows every tool_call validated field by field. Client only, talks to the Ollama I already run on 127.0.0.1. MIT. macOS 12+ Apple Silicon, or .deb / AppImage for x86-64 Linux. https://github.com/magna-nz/remuda Would love any feedback submitted by /u/koestlerinteractive [link] [comments]
