i got it last week and im really impressed. its maybe like a sonnet from last year or 6 months ago. i had built some automation for myself and a dashboard cobbled together over the years from bits of my code and claude & i needed a feature and got an excuse to do a rewrite. I gave a pretty minimal prompt to qwen using pi harness & few steering prompts but it got it done. no caveats. no 'its close, but hey, its a free model'. It took 4 hours to do the whole job with steering running on my 24gb RX7900XTX. i would estimate that this costs me 0.5usd. and i've used claude from aws bedrock for a long time so i would guess that if i did this build using claude sonnet 5, it would cost me 20usd minimum. I still need to run many many more project to get a handle on whats good and what to avoid so that i get confident to use it in production grade work. if any of the qwen team people are reading this: THANK YOU. its really good work. submitted by /u/toonies55 [link] [comments]
