🚨 There are now 23 lawsuits related to deaths or self-harm from ChatGPT. ChatGPT bombarded Rita Chesterton with 1,600 messages in just 9 days calling her delusions “sacred, hard work,” and told her she wasn’t nuts. She asked it to stop so she could sleep. It complied for only 10 minutes. Rita ended up in the hospital. The lawsuit alleges OpenAI removed the rule that ChatGPT reject false premises and programmed it not to quit — even when the user is psychotic. Sycophantic behavior was the goal, not a glitch.
