Google Research introduces Vantage, a research experiment that uses generative AI to assess students' future-ready skills through simulated conversational environments, aiming to provide educators with a scalable, validated approach to measuring competencies like critical thinking, collaboration, and creative thinking. The system places learners in dynamic, multi-party conversations with AI avatars to complete tasks, simulating interactions that are more authentic and representative of real-world scenarios than existing standardized tests. Developed in partnership with pedagogy experts and researchers from New York University, Vantage is designed for high school and college students and is available in English for sign-up on Google Labs.
