I have called out at least two other “influencers” for the same thing on the same paper, including another one earlier this week. C’mon guys. The conclusion is basically correct but if you had read my newsletter (“a knockout blow for LLMs”) you’d already have known this since last June. Apple has just published a paper with a devastating title: The Illusion of Thinking. And it's not a metaphor. What it demonstrates is that the AI models we use every day - yes, ones like ChatGPT - don't think. Not one bit. They just imitate doing so. Let me explain: 🧵👇
