A ransomware gang called Kyber became the first known ransomware operation to deploy NIST standardized post-quantum cryptography in production. The Windows variant uses Kyber1024 post-quantum key encapsulation combined with X25519 and AES-CTR for encryption. The gang's first confirmed victim is a multibillion dollar US defense contractor.
