Looking for enterprise-grade CLI alternatives to Codex CLI (maybe Chinese LLMs?) now that Pro 20X is paused

Now that OpenAI has officially paused new sign-ups and upgrades for the ChatGPT Pro 200 (Pro 20X) plan, I’m looking for a solid alternative for enterprise-level development. For those unfamiliar: Codex CLI is an AI coding agent that runs directly in the terminal. Unlike standard inline autocompletes, it can inspect your local repository, plan multi-file refactors, execute terminal commands, run tests, and fix code iteratively. Since the 200/mo tier is no longer accessible for new/returning users, hitting the lower token or usage limits on cheaper plans just doesn't cut it for complex, heavy workflows. I’ve heard a lot of talk about Chinese open-weights/models (like DeepSeek, Qwen Code, etc.) being vastly more cost-effective while keeping up in performance. I’m looking for recommendations: Terminal/CLI Agents: Tools similar to Codex CLI that run in the terminal (like OpenCode, Aider, or Qwen-based CLI setups). Enterprise-Ready: Must handle large codebases, multi-file context, and complex refactoring without choking. BYOK / Open-Source / Local options: Ideally something where I can plug in my own API key (via DeepSeek/Qwen endpoints) or host locally to keep costs sane. Is anyone currently using a Chinese LLM-backed setup for daily production coding? What CLI harness are you pairing it with (Aider, OpenCode, Goose, etc.)? submitted by /u/Red-Lifter [link] [comments]
