At ICML, Area Chairs (also known as meta-reviewers) are expected to hold seniority at least at the level of a junior faculty member, have substantial prior reviewing experience, and possess expertise across multiple major sub-areas of machine learning. ACs integrate all information from reviews and discussions into their final decisions, and average reviewer scores alone are not taken as a direct indication of the final outcome.
