Skyroot Aerospace, founded by former ISRO engineers, is preparing for India's first orbital launch attempt by a private company with its Vikram-1 rocket, designed to carry up to 350 kilograms into low Earth orbit. The Vikram-1 rocket was transported to India's spaceport in Sriharikota in April, targeting a June 2026 launch after completing flight qualification tests. In May 2026, Skyroot achieved unicorn status with a $1.1 billion valuation, becoming India's first space-tech unicorn.
