An experimental gene-editing therapy called VERVE-102 aims to lower bad cholesterol long-term after a single infusion and showed promising results in a Phase I safety trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Participants who received the highest dose saw their LDL cholesterol drop 62 percent , and the reductions were sustained for up to 18 months . The drug appeared safe with no serious adverse events reported, though results are preliminary from only 35 patients.
