Bumblebees can spontaneously solve problems, study finds

A study published in Science found that bumblebees can solve a completely novel object-manipulation task without training. The bees spontaneously moved a ball underneath an out-of-reach flower and climbed onto it to access a reward. This finding challenges the assumption that spontaneous problem-solving is restricted to humans and other large-brained vertebrates.
