A U.S. appeals court upheld the Trump administration’s decision to blacklist Anthropic’s Claude AI after the firm declined to enable certain features deemed critical for military operations. In a 2‑1 ruling, judges said the government could act even without evidence of malicious intent because overly constrained models might fail in combat or unconstrained ones could misdirect lethal force, and they rejected Anthropic’s petitions for review. The panel emphasized that these actions were within the authority granted under the Supply Chain Security Act and did not violate constitutional limits.
