Anthropic’s planned initial public offering, potentially valuing the company at up to $2 trillion, will be examined under a novel governance model that places an external Long‑Term Benefit Trust (LTBT) in a dominant role over the board. The LTBT, though holding no equity, can appoint or remove more than half of Anthropic’s directors and currently names four of its seven seats—Reed Hastings of Netflix and Vas Narasimhan, chief executive of Novartis—to preserve the company’s long‑term AI mission. Its three trustees—Neil Buddy Shah (Chief Executive of the Clinton Health Access Initiative), former Federal Reserve chair Ben Bernanke, and Richard Fontaine (CEO of the Center for a New American Security)—exercise significant influence on corporate strategy ahead of the public‑market debut.
