Feds deny Polestar authorization to sell cars in US from model year 2027

The U.S. has denied authorization for Polestar to sell 2027 model-year vehicles, effectively preventing new Polestar models from entering the U.S. market. The Connected Vehicle Rule restricts vehicles with software and hardware linked to foreign entities of concern—such as China—and prohibits the sale of vehicles with Chinese-linked software starting with the 2027 model year. The Swedish EV maker, majority-owned by China's Geely Holding, will continue selling existing Polestar 3 and 4 inventory while shifting its long-term growth strategy toward Europe.
