Florida bans local governments from pursuing net-zero emissions goals

HB 1217 prohibits local governments from pursuing net-zero emissions goals , with additional restrictions on carbon-trading programs, green procurement, and carbon-based taxes or fees . Governor Ron DeSantis signed the measure on April 22, and the law took effect July 1 . At least 10 cities and counties had previously implemented such policies, including Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Orlando .
