Following user outcry, AMD reinstates memory encryption in consumer CPUs

AMD removed Transparent Secure Memory Encryption (TSME) from consumer Ryzen CPUs through a silent AGESA 1.2.7.0 firmware change, but reversed this decision after user backlash. AMD confirmed in June that it will restore TSME to consumer Ryzen 9000 desktop processors through a BIOS update scheduled for July 2026. The company cited valuable community feedback as the reason for reversing its position after initially suggesting the change was deliberate product segmentation.
