Following a ruling by the UK's Competition and Markets Authority, Google must provide clearer attribution and links to publishers within AI-generated search results and allow website owners to opt out of having their content used in AI search features. Websites can use a new Search Console setting to opt out of appearing in AI features like AI Overviews and AI Mode while remaining eligible for traditional search results. The CMA also barred Google from penalizing sites that choose to opt out.
