Google announced changes to its Play Store model to settle its years-long legal fight with Epic Games, including lowering the commission fee to 20 percent on in-app purchases and creating a new program allowing users to more easily install alternative app stores. The rollout begins in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and United States by June 30, 2026, with Australia following in September and other regions receiving the changes by September 2027. With the settlement reached, Fortnite is expected to return to the Google Play Store worldwide.
