Microsoft engaged in a public feud with security researcher Nightmare-Eclipse, who released multiple Windows zero-days along with proof-of-concept exploit code. Microsoft initially threatened legal action against the researcher but later softened its position, stating it has no intention to pursue action against individuals conducting or publishing security research. Several of the published vulnerabilities—BlueHammer, RedSun, and UnDefend—were subsequently exploited in the wild.
