Microsoft announced at Build 2026 a new Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, fresh Linux-friendly tooling, and a one-command developer configuration system for Windows 11. The desktop workstation is powered by NVIDIA's RTX Spark superchip, delivering up to one petaflop of AI compute with 128GB of unified memory, and can run models with up to 120 billion parameters locally. The device ships with Windows Subsystem for Linux 2, native GPU passthrough, CUDA support, Visual Studio Code, PowerShell 7, and GitHub Copilot pre-configured.
