A comprehensive effort is underway to sequence the genomes of endangered species, with Google providing funding and AI tools to the Vertebrate Genomes Project and the Earth BioGenome Project. Google.org has awarded The Rockefeller University AI for Science funding to expand the number of species being sequenced. This work addresses the biodiversity crisis by characterizing the genomes of endangered and threatened species to better understand conservation challenges.
