SpaceCamp is a 1986 American science fiction adventure film inspired by the U.S. Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. The young attendees of a space camp find themselves in space for real when their shuttle is accidentally launched into orbit. The film received mixed reviews and was a "marketing nightmare," released less than five months after the Space Shuttle Challenger accident of January 28, 1986, though filming was completed before the disaster occurred.
