Vercel AI Gateway now supports Fast Mode for Claude Opus 4.6, an early experimental feature that delivers 2.5x faster output token speeds while maintaining the same model intelligence. It is particularly suited for human-in-the-loop workflows such as large coding tasks and planning. Fast Mode is priced at 6x standard Opus rates and can be enabled by passing speed: 'fast' in the Anthropic provider options via the AI SDK, or by setting "fastMode": true in settings.json for Claude Code.
