Researchers from the University of Texas at Austin and Stanford University identified Russian early-warning satellites in Molniya orbit as the source of GPS interference affecting Europe, Canada, and Greenland . The team documented 75 instances of interference between 2019 and 2026 , and the Russian constellation has demonstrated capability to disrupt GPS and China's BeiDou navigation systems across continental-scale areas with minimal technical modifications .
