An unusually large near-Earth asteroid, (152637) 1997 NC1, made a close but safe approach to Earth on June 27, 2026, passing within about 1.6 million miles of the planet. A second asteroid, 2026 JH2, also made a close but safe encounter with Earth, measuring between 50 and 100 feet across with no calculated impact risk.
