Apple is reportedly working to distill knowledge and skills from Google's larger Gemini model into a smaller version that could run on iPhones. The new Siri will use a tiered system where simple tasks stay on-device using Apple's own models, moderately complex tasks go to Apple's Private Cloud Compute servers, and complex reasoning tasks use a custom Gemini model. Apple's updated Siri with personalized responses is expected to launch in 2026.
