Google Home gets upgraded Gemini voice assistant and new camera controls

Google Home's May 2026 update brings a faster camera experience, Gemini 3.1 for complex voice commands, and new web-based controls. The refreshed camera UI features faster navigation and zoomed-in previews, while early access users receive the Gemini 3.1 upgrade enabling complex, multi-step voice commands. New camera controls include options to skip back or forward through event recordings in 10-second chunks, resize the video player, and close the camera view by swiping.
