NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen surpassed the record for human spaceflight's farthest distance from Earth on April 6, 2026, which was previously set by the Apollo 13 mission in 1970. Artemis II's distance from Earth exceeded Apollo 13's by more than 4,100 miles. The Artemis II crew honored their predecessors' achievements while challenging the next generation to ensure "this record is not long-lived."
