Ars Technica's newsroom AI policy forbids unlabeled AI material in reported stories and requires human confirmation of every quotation's accuracy. The publication does not permit the publication of AI-generated material unless it is clearly labeled and presented for demonstration purposes. The policy was formalized following a February 2026 incident in which an article's quotes were found to be fabricated by AI , resulting in a full retraction and leading to enforcement reviews and staff training updates.
